The Poinciana is synonymous with good music & the owners & staff are (mostly) passionate connoisseurs of all things musical.

We care more about music than we rationally ought to. For us there’s nothing better than listening to music, talking about music, reading about music & turning people on to music that they may not have been aware of.

Every couple of months a group of discerning musical experts (the owners & staff) will be putting their collective heads (& ears) together to bring you unbiased collections of our various (new & old) music. These musical trainspotters will be collectively dipping into their vast pools of musical knowledge & furiously jotting down their current & all-time faves in order to post on this site. The chief trainspotter will then spend an inordinate amount of time creating the many playlists you hear while visiting this establishment.

The Poinciana proprietors & personnel were recently invited to list their Top 40 favourite albums. Some declined and others could only come up with a few titles, a couple wanted to list their Top 100, but space wouldn’t allow. We then employed a team of experts to gather their submissions, decipher some cryptic handwriting, analyse the results & compile the lists you see here. Everybody had the opportunity (some declined, as they didn’t want to share such intimate details) to express who they are by what they like, & these uncensored comments make up a wild & wonderful melting pot of opinions & discoveries. The comments represent music that each staff member feels personally passionate about. It’s probable that there are some of your favourites listed & maybe you just might go out & seek some of these albums that you’re not familiar with. I can promise you one thing, you won’t be disappointed.
